On-call duty at the Delivery Room hopes us to expect more deliveries of babies from expectant, pregnant mothers and we prayed that hope there are numerous of them who will give labor so that we will have bunches of DR cases. The protocol is 5 cases for Assist or the so-called "Circulating Student Nurse", 5 cases for "Handle" and another 5 cases for the "Cord Care". Obviously, that directs to our goal - to be able to work on those cases though having DR on-call duty so that we can complete performing them and be able to earn those cases.
Each group is composed of 3 members who will handle those 3 cases each per rotation, per delivery. Needless to say, we pay the hospital (on-call duty fee) and for our CI who will take in-charge of us there.
At home, before our duty at the hospital, I really prayed to God, hoping that many mothers will deliver their babies tomorrow (referring to this day). And indeed, my prayer was heard by God. I have 3 cases earned which adds to my 10 cases which I am done performing before. That is why, I am thankful to God this day for all is well. My friends who are with me in this duty also got 3 cases each. This perfectly makes our day, a "Labor Day" for all of us. "Labor Day" as a salute to all hardworking Filipinos all around the globe for all the works worth an effort, for us to extend our services on this day even though it is a holiday and being able to earn 3 cases each and to the mothers who were giving birth to their healthy babies courageously.
"Labor Day" is indeed a "labor day"!
