Quick fix with a metal patch.

To keep a splitwood shingle from leaking or to repair a badly damaged shingle or slate temporarily - make a patch from a sheet of copper or aluminum flashing. With a pair of metal shears, cut the patch to twice the width and about 3 inches longer than the exposed length of the damaged shingle. Apply roofing cement to the center of the patch, and slide the patch up and under the damaged shingle, cemented side down. Continue pushing the patch upward, using a wood block and hammer to tap if necessary, until its top edge passes the butt of shingles in the next course.
